Before you can proceed, you must have completed the necessary questing to unlock your Cut ability, which allows you to break through metal fences blocking your path into the mines.

Head down into the mines with Torcole accompanying you. You’ll encounter metal fences along the way—use your Cut ability to get through them and continue deeper into the mine where iron ore can be found.

Farming Iron at Bleak Beach

An easier alternative to mine grinding is farming iron at Bleak Beach. Unlike the mines, you don’t need upgraded abilities to collect iron from this location. You’ll find iron bits scattered around the beach area that you can break using Rock Smash without needing to upgrade your abilities first. Simply bring a Fire-type Pokémon to this area and collect the available iron ore.
