Chronicles of the Ancients Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of the Chronicles of the Ancients quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Follow along as we examine Belle’s journal, gather materials, and uncover the mysteries of the ancient chronicles. Whether you’re a new player or looking for a quick refresher, this guide covers all the objectives and locations you’ll need.

Step 1: Examine Belle’s Journal

The quest begins in the Beast’s castle at their home. Head to the Beast’s house (wherever you’ve placed it in your valley) and locate the journal sitting on the desk. Interact with the journal to examine it and pick up the initial quest item—a picture that provides the first clue.

Step 2: Speak to Ariel

Once you’ve examined the journal, it’s time to find Ariel. She spends her time in the water, so head to any body of water in the valley to locate her. When you find her, initiate a conversation and select the “Chronicles of the Ancients” dialogue option.

Step 3: Travel to Ariel’s Island and Examine the Chest

Ariel will direct you to use the raft at Basil Beach to travel to her island. Make your way to Skull Rock where the raft is located, then interact with it to travel to Ariel’s island. Once there, locate the chest that’s trapped behind the rocks and examine it. You’ll discover that removing the stones will require tremendous strength.

Step 4: Gather Materials for the Beast

Return to Belle and she’ll ask you to gather materials that will help the Beast remove the chest. You’ll need to collect:

2 Iron Ingots – Craft these at your crafting table or bench using iron ore and coal. Mine stones to obtain these materials.

4 Rope – Craft rope from fiber at your crafting station. Fiber comes from seaweed, which you can fish or collect from Red Algae on Basil Beach.

Step 5: Give Materials to the Beast

Once you’ve gathered the necessary materials, locate the Beast and give him the items. You can choose to wear a rustic outfit if you’d like, though this is completely optional. Select the “Chronicles of the Ancients” dialogue option when speaking to him.

Step 6: Return to Ariel’s Island

Head back to Skull Rock and use the raft again to travel to Ariel’s island. When you arrive, you’ll find the Beast has already used his strength to open the chest. Interact with the chest to collect the scrolls inside and examine them.

Step 7: Photograph Three Additional Locations

Return to Belle and she’ll mention that the details on the scrolls are easier to see at night, though you can actually complete this step during daytime as well. You need to find and photograph three additional locations in the valley:

Location 1: Frosted Heights

Head to the cave in the Frosted Heights and take a picture of the location marker there.

Location 2: Glade of Trust

Travel to the Glade of Trust and go near the waterfall. With the waterfall behind you, you’ll see the location marker on a rock. Take a picture of it.

Location 3: Forgotten Lands

Make your way to the Forgotten Lands in the northern area near the wall. Take a picture of the location marker there.

Step 8: Collect Items from the Beast’s House

The Beast has moved the chest to his house. Go to his home and open the chest inside to collect the item inside. After collecting it, speak to Belle once more.

Step 9: Gather Materials for the Fairy Godmother

It’s time to bring the item to the Fairy Godmother, but first you’ll need to gather several crafting materials:

Vitalist Crystals

Mine the rocks in the Vitalist Mine located in the Sunlit Plateau to obtain vitalist crystals.

Dream Shards

You can craft dream shards at your crafting station or mine them in the Vitalist Mine.

Sapphires

Mine sapphires in the Vitalist Mine in the Sunlit Plateau.

Gold Ingots

Craft gold ingots at your crafting station using 5 gold nuggets and 1 coal. You can mine gold nuggets in the Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, and Forgotten Lands.

Step 10: Give Materials to the Fairy Godmother

Once you’ve gathered all the required materials, find the Fairy Godmother and give them to her. Select the “Chronicles of the Ancients” dialogue option.

Step 11: Place the Chronicle Near the Dream Night Library

Return to Belle and she’ll ask you to place the Chronicle of the Ancients near the Dream Night Library (which is Merlin’s castle). Important note: You must place this item in the main valley—it won’t work if placed in other areas like the Floating Islands. Open your inventory, select the furniture request for the Chronicle of the Ancients, and place it near Merlin’s library in the valley.

Once placed correctly in the valley near the library, return to Belle to complete the quest. You’ll receive some nice outfits as a reward for completing the Chronicles of the Ancients quest.
