Breaking Bones Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

This comprehensive guide will walk you through the Breaking Bones quest with Scar in Disney Dreamlight Valley. As the second friendship quest you’ll encounter with Scar, this quest tasks you with exploring the Sunlit Plateau and clearing out Will the Beast bones. Follow along as we detail every step needed to complete this quest successfully.

Starting the Breaking Bones Quest

To begin, talk to Scar to initiate the quest. He’ll ask you to explore the Sunlit Plateau with him. Your first task is to visit Scrooge McDuck and select the “Breaking Bones” option from his dialogue.

The main objective of this quest is to remove the Sunlit Plateau Will the Beast bones. To accomplish this, you’ll need to upgrade your shovel with a bone-breaking mold.

Gathering Materials for the Shovel Upgrade

To upgrade your shovel with the bone-breaking mold, you’ll need to collect three types of materials:

Lion’s Claws

You need to find lion’s claws buried near the cliffs in the Sunlit Plateau. There are five lion’s claws to collect:

One buried just outside Scar’s home

One near a tree in the area

One near the ramp

One on the right-hand side of the waterfall in the Sunlit Plateau

One on the right side of Scar’s Cave

Dry Wood

Dry wood can be found in three locations: Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, and the Forgotten Lands. Look for white pieces of wood near trees—they’re distinguishable from regular wood by their pale coloring.

While dry wood is rare in the Sunlit Plateau, the Frosted Heights has a generous supply. You’ll need five pieces total, and the Frosted Heights is your best bet for collecting them efficiently.

Iron Ingots

Iron ingots can be obtained by mining throughout the game world.

Crafting the Lion’s Claw Shovel Head

Once you’ve gathered all your materials (lion’s claws, dry wood, and iron ingots), head to your crafting table. Navigate to the Potion and Enchantment section and select “Lion’s Claw Shovel Head” to craft the shovel mold.

Upgrading Your Shovel

After crafting the lion’s claw shovel head, open your inventory and locate the item. Click on it and select “Use” to upgrade your shovel.

Removing the Will the Beast Bones

Now that your shovel is upgraded, it’s time to clear out the small Will the Beast bones scattered throughout the Sunlit Plateau. This is an excellent opportunity to help tidy up the area. You can only dig up the small bones—the larger ones cannot be removed.

There are five small bones to collect throughout the Sunlit Plateau:

Two small bones in Scar’s area

One bone near the location previously shown

One bone near the ramp area

One final bone located up the ramp

Completing the Quest

After you’ve collected all five small Will the Beast bones, return to Scar and talk to him to complete the Breaking Bones quest.
