Finding Old Friends Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

The “Finding Old Friends” quest is one of the new jungle quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley and serves as the first quest in this questline. This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of the quest, from unlocking requirements to completion, so you can reunite with beloved characters and help them settle into the valley.

Quest Unlock Requirements

Before you can begin the “Finding Old Friends” quest, you’ll need to complete several prerequisite story quests. Make sure you have completed:

All story quests in the Forgotten Lands (where you interact with the Forgotten and travel back in time with the Fairy Godmother to see how the valley became what it is today)

The Blizzard quest in the Frosted Heights

The story quests where you unlock Christoth in the Forest of Valor

Additionally, you must unlock both Simba and Nala and raise their friendship levels to Level 10. Once you’ve completed all these requirements, you’ll be able to access the new jungle quests.

Starting the Quest with Simba

Begin by talking to Simba. He will ask you to visit the Lion King realm. Head there to continue the quest.

Meeting Timon and Gathering Materials

Once you arrive in the Lion King realm, you’ll notice the area has received an overhaul. Find and talk to Timon. He will ask you to gather jungle building materials to help him construct a crafting station. You’ll need to collect:

4x Jungle Wood

Red Jungle Leaves

Jungle Stones (look for stones with sparkles around them)

You can find these materials scattered throughout the opening area and near the waterfall at the top of the Lion King realm. Red jungle leaves are easy to spot on the ground, and jungle stones will have a distinctive sparkle effect around them to help you identify them.

Once you’ve collected all the materials, hand them over to Timon. He will build his crafting station for you.

Crafting the Red Leafy Mane

Go to the crafting bench that Timon just made. Navigate to the “Functional Items” section (you may need to scroll down) and craft the Red Leafy Mane using the red jungle leaves you collected.

Once crafted, open your wardrobe and equip the Red Leafy Mane. This outfit change is essential for the next part of the quest.

Following Timon into the Jungle

After putting on the mane, speak with Timon again. He will lead you both into the jungle. Follow him and listen to the conversation they have together.

Once the conversation concludes, talk to Timon again at the jungle camp.

Fishing for the Lost Crown

Timon will ask you to search for a crown poking out of the water in the Lion King realm and fish it out. Head down to the river area below the log. You’ll see the crown sticking out of the water. Equip your fishing rod and fish the lost crown from the river.

Crafting an Empty Vial

You’ll also need to craft an empty vial for the next step. Go to any crafting bench (such as Goofy’s) and craft an Empty Vial. The recipe requires:

3x Glass

Glass is made from 15x Sand and 3x Coal. You can obtain sand by digging on Dazzle Beach or by breaking the coral that appears on the beach. Breaking coral is typically easier and more reliable than digging.

Presenting Items to Timon

Bring both the Lost Crown and the Empty Vial to Timon in the Lion King realm. Speak with him and give him these items.

Breaking the Crown with Your Pickaxe

Timon will ask you to break the crown with your pickaxe. Equip your pickaxe and strike the rock that the crown is sitting on top of. The crown will break, revealing its contents.

Placing the Vial in the River

Talk to Timon again, and he’ll ask you to use the container (vial) that you gave him. Follow Timon to the jungle river. Once you arrive at the river, walk up to the water and look for sparkles indicating an interactive spot. Press interact, then right-click on the vial in your inventory to place it into the water.

Returning to Camp

After placing the vial, head back up to the jungle camp where you were before. Timon and Pumbaa will follow you. Talk to Timon again once you’re back at the camp.

Preparing Leafy Beds

Time will shift to nighttime, and Timon will ask you to prepare leafy beds for everyone. You’ll need to create beds for Timon, Pumbaa, and yourself. You’ll notice leaves scattered on the ground throughout the camp. Equip your shovel and right-click on the leaves to automatically transform them into beds.

Saying Goodnight

Talk to one of them and say goodnight. Then interact with your bed (the largest one) and lie down to rest. Listen as Timon and Pumbaa have a cozy conversation together.

Quest Complete!

Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed the “Finding Old Friends” quest. The quest concludes with a heartwarming scene of the group settling in for the night in their jungle camp.
