Where’s Pumbaa Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

Welcome to our comprehensive guide for the “Where’s Pumbaa” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Lion King realm. This quest is one of the newer additions to the game and involves finding Pumbaa, collecting special ingredients, and crafting items to help free him from a log. Finding Pumbaa at the Oasis

To begin the quest, you’ll need to explore the Lion King realm and locate Pumbaa. Head toward the Oasis area where you’ll find him stuck in a log. Once you spot him, interact and talk with him to start the quest.

Speaking with Timon

After talking to Pumbaa, you’ll need to find Timon to learn how to help free him. Timon can typically be found near the waterfall in the Lion King realm. Talk to him to get guidance on the next steps.

Taking a Photo for Clues

Timon will direct you back to Pumbaa’s location. Once you’re at the log, take out your camera and take a photo. This will give you a closer look at Pumbaa’s situation and provide insight into how to help free him.

Breaking Rocks and Collecting Oily Bugs

Timon reveals that you need to break rocks in the jungle to search for oily bugs. Equip your pickaxe and break apart the rocky formations you find. Inside these rocks, you’ll discover different colored oily bugs:

Blue oily bugs

Red oily bugs

Yellow oily bugs

You’ll find several of these bugs scattered around the river area of the realm. Continue mining and collecting until you have gathered all the bugs you need.

Cooking Bug Oils at the Campsite

With your bugs collected, head to the cooking pot at the campsite at the top of the realm. You’ll need to cook three specialty bug oil recipes using the bugs you’ve gathered. Access the recipes and prepare the following:

Orange bug oil – Use autofill and start cooking

Green bug oil – Use autofill and start cooking

Making Super Slippery Bug Oil

After cooking the orange and green bug oils, you may need to use a cooking station outside the realm to prepare the final recipe. Create the super slippery bug oil by using autofill with the two oils you’ve already made.

Applying the Slippery Oil

Return to Timon and give him the slippery bug oil. Then, take out your watering can and apply it to Pumbaa. Unfortunately, this alone won’t be enough to free him, so speak with Timon again to learn the next step.

Gathering Materials from Goofy

You’ll need to leave the Lion King realm and find Goofy in the main village. Goofy will give you a plunger and inform you of additional materials needed to craft a reinforced plunger. You’ll need to gather:

5 Tourmaline

10 Rope

10 Iron Ingots

15 Hardwood

Crafting Iron Ingots and Rope

You can craft iron ingots and rope at the crafting station:

Iron Ingots: Made from iron ore and coal ore (mine these around the village)

Rope: Made from fiber (you need 10 total)

Mining for Tourmaline

Tourmaline can be mined from rocks in specific areas of the valley. Visit the Sunlit Plateau and Frosted Heights to find gems. Even rocks that don’t visibly display gems can yield gem drops, though at a lower chance. To improve your gem-mining success rate, craft a Miraculous Pickaxe Polish (if you’ve unlocked it from a previous quest) and apply it to your pickaxe. This will increase your chances of obtaining gems for several uses.

Crafting the Reinforced Plunger

Once you’ve gathered all the necessary materials, head to the crafting bench and locate the Functional Items section. Craft the Reinforced Plunger using:

Rope

Tourmaline

Hardwood

Goofy’s old plunger

Freeing Pumbaa with the Plunger

Return to the Lion King realm and approach Pumbaa’s log. Use the reinforced plunger on him to finally free him from the log. After a brief cutscene, listen to Pumbaa and Timon’s conversation.

Returning to Dreamlight Valley

After Pumbaa is freed, exit the Lion King realm by using the exit near where you were chatting with Timon and Pumbaa. You’ll return to the main Dreamlight Valley area, and you should see a welcome message for Pumbaa as he arrives in the village.

Completing the Quest

Speak to Pumbaa once he’s arrived in the village, and then talk to Timon when he appears. This final conversation will complete the “Where’s Pumbaa” quest, and you’ll have successfully helped reunite the two friends in Dreamlight Valley!
