Fishing Expedition Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

In this guide, we’ll walk you through completing the Fishing Expedition quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This quest is essential for unlocking the Royal Tools quest and introduces you to the fishing mechanics. Follow these step-by-step instructions to fix the broken Fishing Rod, learn how to fish from Goofy, and complete the quest.

Finding the Broken Fishing Rod

Your first objective is to locate the broken Fishing Rod. You’ll find it positioned just next to the pond in your starting area. Keep an eye out for its distinctive appearance near the water’s edge.

Locating Goofy

Once you’ve found the broken Fishing Rod, open your map by pressing M. Look for Goofy’s location on the map—he’ll be in his little house. Navigate to his home and press E to enter.

Handing Over the Rod

When you talk to Goofy, he will ask you to hand over the broken Fishing Rod. Give it to him, and you’ll immediately unlock the full Fishing Rod. This completes the first major step of the quest.

Following Goofy to the Fishing Spot

After handing over the rod, follow Goofy to the Fishing Spot. He’ll lead you there and prepare to teach you the basics of fishing in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Equip your Fishing Rod from your inventory

Press the Space Bar to cast your line. You’ll see a line coming out toward the water

Stop the line when it hits the circle of fish by pressing the Space Bar again at the right moment

Right click when the game prompts you to begin the catch sequence

Right click again when the indicator hits the green zone to successfully catch the fish

Your First Catch

Following these steps, you’ll successfully catch a Rainbow Trout—your first fish for the Fishing Expedition quest. This demonstrates that you’ve mastered the basic fishing mechanics.

Showing Your Catch to Goofy

Display your newly caught Rainbow Trout to Goofy. He’ll be impressed with your catch and will then ask you to follow him to his stall.

Reopening Goofy’s Stall

Unlocking the Stall Sign

When you reach Goofy’s stall, you’ll notice a blue sign from Scrooge McDuck. This is the key to reopening the stall. Press E to interact with and unlock this sign.

Fixing the Stall with Scrooge

Once you unlock the sign, Scrooge McDuck will appear. When prompted, confirm that you want to fix the stall. The repair process will complete in moments, and the stall will be fully operational. You’ll now be able to browse and purchase items from the reopened stall.

Completing the Quest

Return to Goofy now that his stall is open and operational. Talk to him to complete the final step of the Fishing Expedition quest. As a reward for your efforts, he’ll give you some free seeds that you can use in your garden or around the valley.
