Ferry Terminal Puzzle Guide in Rust

Ferry Terminal Puzzle Guide in Rust

The ferry terminal is one of the key puzzle locations in Rust that rewards players with valuable loot and progression items. This guide will walk you through every step needed to successfully complete the ferry terminal puzzle, from locating the green key card to opening the final container and claiming your rewards.

Finding the Ferry Terminal

The ferry terminal is located near the garage building on the map and features one main terminal building that’s relatively easy to spot. Once you’ve identified the location, head to the back of the building where you’ll find boarded-up windows and one smashed window. Enter through the smashed window.

Collecting the Green Key Card

Inside the back of the terminal building, you’ll find a green key card sitting on a desk. This item is essential for the puzzle and respawns every five to ten minutes if someone else has already taken it on your server. Pick up the green key card and add it to your inventory.

Exit through the door in front of you and head down the side of the building toward the tower. Continue past the tower and exit through the gate.

Locating the Electrical Container

Once you exit the gate, you’ll notice a container with a wire running down from it. This is an important landmark—memorize its location as you’ll need to return here later. However, first you need to locate a second container on the right-hand side of the ferry terminal.

Run back through the yard to the opposite side of the fence. Follow the wire along the right-hand side of the ferry terminal, jump over the wall, and you’ll find another container.

Installing the Electric Fuse

Inside this container, you’ll find a turn-on switch and a slot where you need to place an electric fuse. An electric fuse can be obtained through various methods in Rust, so make sure you have one in your inventory before approaching this container.

Line up the electric fuse and place it into the slot in the container.

After installing the fuse, exit the container, move around to the back, and pull the switch to turn it on.

Opening the Final Container

Now that the power is activated, take your green key card and run back to the first container you saw—the one with the wire running down from it. Approach the door on the container.

To open the door, left-click with your green key card equipped. This will swipe the card and open the container. If the door doesn’t open on the first try, attempt it a few more times—sometimes it takes multiple attempts to register the swipe.

Claiming Your Rewards

Inside the container, you’ll find two valuable items:

A basic blueprint fragment

A blue key card

The blue key card is particularly important as it grants you access to more secure areas in other puzzle locations throughout Rust.

Summary

You’ve now successfully completed the ferry terminal puzzle! The process involves collecting the green key card from the terminal building, installing an electric fuse in a secondary container to restore power, and using the key card to access the final container for your rewards. This puzzle is essential for progression in Rust and sets you up with better access to other high-tier loot locations.
