How to Get a Pasture in Civilization 6
Building a pasture is one of the fundamental improvements you’ll create in Civilization 6 to boost your civilization’s production and economy. This guide walks you through the simple steps needed to construct your first pasture, from researching the required technology to completing the improvement on the map.
Research Animal Husbandry
The first step is to research the Animal Husbandry technology. This is one of the earliest technologies available in the game and unlocks the ability to build pastures. Open the Tech Tree to locate Animal Husbandry and begin researching it.

Create a Builder
Once you’ve completed the Animal Husbandry research, you’ll need to construct a Builder unit. Click on your city to select it.

In the bottom right corner, click on the change sheet of production to access your production options.

Under the Unit category, you’ll find the Builder option. Click on it and wait for production to complete.

Move Your Builder to a Livestock Tile
After your Builder is created, direct it to move to a tile containing cattle, horses, or sheep. These are the livestock resources required to build a pasture.

Build the Pasture
Once your Builder reaches the livestock tile, you’ll see the pasture button appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. Click on it to begin construction of your pasture.

Summary
Building a pasture in Civilization 6 is straightforward: research Animal Husbandry, create a Builder unit, move it to a livestock resource tile, and select the pasture improvement. This simple process will give your civilization access to valuable production bonuses that help fuel your empire’s growth.
