How to Export Power in Prison Architect

Requirements

To export power in Prison Architect, you’ll need the Going Green DLC. This expansion adds renewable energy systems and the tools necessary for power exportation.

Step 1: Install Solar Panels

Begin by clicking on Utilities in the construction menu. You’ll see the solar panel option available. While wind turbines are also available, solar panels are recommended for this setup. Place as many solar panels as you want around your prison to maximize energy collection.

Step 2: Connect with a Transformer

Next, locate the Transformer in the Utilities electrical section. Connect your solar panels to the transformer. This component is essential for regulating and transferring the collected energy throughout your system.

Step 3: Add Battery Storage

Place Batteries around the transformer. The batteries will store the energy collected by the solar panels, ensuring you have power available even when the sun isn’t shining. This stored energy will be charged from the transformer.

Step 4: Place the Power Export Meter

Go to the Wiring submenu within Utilities and select the Power Export Meter. Place this meter next to your transformer. This device is what allows you to export excess power and generate revenue.

Step 5: Create Connections

Click on the Connect tool in the Wiring section. First, connect the power export meter to the transformer by clicking on the power meter and then clicking on the transformer.
