Starting the Quest – Main Building Entry

Once you enter the building, you’ll need to navigate the puzzle by using lanterns to open specific doors. Begin by taking the left-hand staircase and continuing upward. The door at the top is already open, so go through it.

Leave the lantern where it is and exit through the right-hand door. Pick up the lantern in this room and talk to the character inside (she’s described as a “loony”). This interaction is important for the quest progression.

First Lantern Distribution

Return to the main staircase and give the lantern you just picked up to the character standing there. This action will close off two doors, but because you’ve placed the lantern, the outside exit remains open and you’ll still have access to another lantern.

Go back into the door and pick up the lantern in the main room. Leave it there for now and head back downstairs. You’ll notice a door is now open midway down the stairs.

Mid-Staircase Room – First Collection

Enter the newly opened door midway down the stairs and inspect everything in the room. Give your current lantern to the character in this room. This action will unlock the adjacent door.

Go through the door that just opened. Inside you’ll find several collectibles: a book on the table to inspect and a Cycle of Ruin (which you may already have from previous exploration). There’s also a manual on the bookshelf that you should collect.

Retrieving Lanterns and Moving to Right Stairs

Exit this room once you’ve collected all items. Retrieve the lantern from the character you gave it to. Then head back to the courtyard and grab the lantern at the very top of the stairs.

Instead of taking the left-hand stairs this time, head up the right-hand stairs in the courtyard. Hand your lantern to the character standing there. This action will unlock two rooms for you to explore.

Right Wing Rooms – Premium Loot

Enter the first unlocked room on the right. You’ll find several items to inspect here, including premium loot and various objects scattered throughout the space. Take your time to collect everything available.

Move into the second unlocked room. This area contains a tunnel with loot including the Relic of St. Dacia’s on the table and a Recipe for Potent Ferric Attunement. There are also various other items on the table to collect.

Ground Floor Navigation

Exit both rooms and return downstairs. Go back up the left stairs because you currently have two lanterns in your inventory. Hand one to the character at the top of the left staircase. This will remove obstacles from the ground floor.

Head to the right-hand side near the stairs on the ground floor. You’ll find another area now accessible. This opens up another room for exploration.

Spectral Prison Room

Enter this newly accessible room. Be prepared to face a few spectres inside. On the floor, you’ll find a rose (not rosemary). In the cage against the wall, there’s a cross to inspect. You can also inspect the prisoner’s sleeping area in this room.

The Lantern Trap Door Puzzle

Go through the door in this room. Inside, you’ll find a lantern on the ground. Here’s an important detail: you must take the lantern first before you can inspect the trap door. Without taking the lantern, the trap door inspection won’t be available. Take the lantern and then jump down through the trap door.

The Dog Kennels

You’ll be taken into the dog kennels. Don’t worry—you’ll return to the main courtyard shortly. Follow the path downward through the gates and up the stairs on the other side.

In the kennels, you’ll encounter the dogs in the corner. Loot the Key to the Kennels from this area. This key allows you to unlock the basement door back in the main room—an area you may have already explored while searching for this guide.

Final Lantern Collection and Conclusion

Return to the main courtyard. Now you can take the lantern from where you left it. With this action, more lanterns will appear in the building. You should now have two lanterns in your inventory.

Head up the left-hand stairs all the way to the top. Give one lantern to the character there. Return back out and take the lantern you left on the outside. You can still pass through this door since you still have access.

Continue through the next doors. You’ll see paintings along the way if you want to examine them. You’ll find two more lanterns in the upcoming room—collect both of them. Go through the final door, and you’ll have completed the Cycle of Love quest!
