How to Get a Tier 2 Axe in Grounded
Ready to upgrade your cutting power in Grounded? This guide walks you through the process of crafting a Tier 2 Insect Axe to replace your basic Pebble Axe. Learn what materials you need and why this upgrade is essential for harvesting high-yield resources throughout the yard.
Understanding the Tier 2 Axe Upgrade
The Pebble Axe is your starting tool in Grounded, but it has limitations. To progress and access new resources, you’ll need to craft the Insect Axe, which represents your Tier 2 axe upgrade. This improved tool is necessary for chopping down certain vegetation that the Pebble Axe cannot handle.
Materials Required for the Insect Axe
To craft an Insect Axe, you’ll need to gather and research the following materials:
Silk Rope – Obtained by spinning Web Fibers
Bombardier Parts – Three (3) parts sourced from Bombardier Beetles
Ladybug Head – One (1) head from a Ladybug
Make sure you have researched all of these materials before attempting to craft.
Crafting Your Insect Axe
Once you have collected all the required materials and completed the research, head to your crafting table.

At the crafting table, you’ll be able to build your Insect Axe. This completes your upgrade from the Tier 1 Pebble Axe to the Tier 2 Insect Axe.
Why the Insect Axe Matters
The primary advantage of the Insect Axe is its ability to chop down Husky Weeds – the tall plants with red stems found throughout the yard. Your Pebble Axe cannot cut these weeds, but the Insect Axe can.

Husky Weeds are extremely valuable because they yield significantly more Weed Stems compared to other vegetation like Dandy Lines. By upgrading to the Insect Axe, you’ll dramatically increase your resource gathering efficiency and unlock new areas of progression in your Grounded adventure.
Summary
The Tier 2 Insect Axe is a crucial upgrade in Grounded. Gather Silk Rope, three Bombardier Parts, and a Ladybug Head, then craft your axe at the crafting table. With this tool in hand, you’ll unlock access to Husky Weeds and boost your resource production considerably.
