How To Assign Prisoners To Kitchen In Prison Architect

Managing prison labor efficiently is crucial in Prison Architect, and assigning prisoners to the kitchen is one of the most important tasks you’ll perform. Step 1: Unlock Prison Labor

The first thing you need to do is unlock the bureaucracy prison labor feature. Navigate to the Bureaucracy menu to find this option.

Step 2: Start the Kitchen Safety and Hygiene Program

After unlocking prison labor, go to the Reports section located on the bottom right of your screen. Look for the Kitchen Safety and Hygiene program under the Programs tab and start it.

An important note: prisoners must pass the Kitchen Safety and Hygiene program before they can be assigned to work in the kitchen. Once a prisoner completes this training, they become eligible for kitchen assignments.

Step 3: Access Prison Labor Assignments

Now that your program is running, it’s time to assign prisoners. Click on the Logistics menu.

Once you’re in Logistics, you’ll see the Prison Labor option. Click on it to access the labor assignment interface.

Select the specific kitchen where you want to assign prisoners to work. Click on that kitchen in the Prison Labor menu.

When you select a kitchen, you’ll notice an icon appears and increases, indicating that prisoners are now assigned to that kitchen location.

The final critical step is ensuring your prisoners actually have work time scheduled. Go back to the Reports section on the bottom right and click on Regime. Check your prisoners’ schedules to confirm they have dedicated work time allocated for kitchen labor.

Without proper work time scheduled in the regime, prisoners won’t actually begin their kitchen duties, so this step is essential for your labor program to function.
