How To Get Into Erebus In Hades
How To Get Into Erebus In Hades
Erebus is a challenging bonus gate in Hades that appears in the H Biome as an alternative to Chaos encounters. This guide will walk you through the exact steps needed to unlock and access Erebus, including the requirements and costs involved.
Understanding Erebus Gates
Erebus is a bonus gate that will appear in the H Biome instead of Chaos. It’s a special encounter that adds extra challenge and variety to your runs.
How to Unlock Erebus Gates
Purchase the Erebus Gateway
To get started, you need to visit the House Contractor and purchase the “Gateways Erebus” upgrade. This upgrade costs 5 diamonds and is essential for Erebus gates to have a chance of appearing in your runs.

Once you’ve purchased this upgrade, chambers may contain an Erebus gate. However, note that this is not a guaranteed 100% chance—it’s just a possibility.
Hit Requirements by Biome
To unlock an Erebus gate, you must complete each biome with a specific number of hits. Here are the requirements:
Tartarus: 5 hit requirement
Asphodel: 10 hit requirement
Elysium: 15 hit requirement
Entering Erebus: Step-by-Step
Starting Your Run
Begin an Escape attempt and work toward completing your chosen biome with the required number of hits. For this example, we’ll aim for a 5 hit run in Tartarus.

Finding the Erebus Gate
Once you’ve achieved the required hit count, look for the Erebus gate in your chambers. You should see it appear as an option alongside your other chamber choices.

The gate will initially appear locked. Approach it to interact with it.
Entering Erebus
Step up to the Erebus gate and interact with it. The gate will unseal, allowing you to descend into Erebus and begin this challenging bonus encounter.

Summary
Accessing Erebus in Hades requires three key steps: First, purchase the Gateways Erebus upgrade from the House Contractor for 5 diamonds. Second, complete your chosen biome with the required number of hits (5 for Tartarus, 10 for Asphodel, 15 for Elysium). Third, interact with the Erebus gate when it appears to unseal it and enter the encounter. While Erebus gates aren’t guaranteed to appear, following these steps gives you the best chance to access this exciting bonus challenge.
