How To Make A Shop Front In Prison Architect
In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of building a functional shopfront in Prison Architect. A well-designed shopfront is essential for allowing prisoners to purchase goods while keeping your supply storage organized and separate. Follow this step-by-step guide to create your own professional-looking shop.
Building the Shop Structure
Start by creating the foundation for your shop. Plan out the basic structure with walls where you want your shop to be located.

Next, place a door at the entrance to your shop. This will allow prisoners to enter and exit the shopping area.

Wait for the door placement to finish before proceeding to the next step.

Separating the Shop and Supply Areas
The key to an effective shopfront is separating the retail area from your supply storage. Create a wall between the shop and the supply area to keep inventory organized.

Now place another door in this dividing wall. This door will be used for staff to access the supply area and restock the shelves.

Adding Storage Shelves
Navigate to the Objects menu in your toolbar.

Search for and select the storage shelf option. Place storage shelves in your supply area to hold groceries and other items.

Installing the Shopfront
Return to the Objects menu and search for “shopfront.” This is the counter that prisoners will interact with to purchase items.

Click on the shopfront option and place it on the wall between your retail shop and supply storage area. You can position it on either side depending on your layout preference.

Position the shopfront where customers can easily access it while staff can restock from the supply side.

Conclusion
Congratulations! You’ve successfully built a functional shopfront in Prison Architect. Your shopfront is now ready for prisoners to use, with organized storage for supplies and a clear separation between retail and storage areas. This setup ensures efficient inventory management while providing your inmates with a place to spend their earned money.
