The Making of a Monarch Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

This comprehensive guide will walk you through The Making of a Monarch quest with Scar, which is his fourth quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Follow along as we prepare a special meal, gather ingredients, craft sunbird feeders, and uncover the mystery that unfolds in Scar’s cave.

Starting the Quest with Scar

Begin by talking to Scar. He will propose that you share a meal together in his den. For this meal, you’ll need to prepare two dishes: a Goosebrew Pie and Teriyaki Salmon.

Scar will provide you with the recipes for both dishes. Check your inventory after talking to him to access these recipes if you haven’t made them before.

Cooking the Teriyaki Salmon

Head to your cooking oven and click on Recipes. You’ll see the new recipes at the top of your menu. You only need one of each dish.

For the Teriyaki Salmon, gather the following ingredients:

Soy beans

Salmon

Sugar cane

Rice

Ginger

Once you’ve selected the recipe and have all ingredients, you can skip the result animation by clicking the fast-forward button if you’d like.

Cooking Snow White’s Goosebrew Pie

Next, click recipes again and select Snow White’s Goosebrew Pie. You’ll need:

Wheat

Butter

Gooseberries

Finding Gooseberries: Gooseberry bushes can be found in the Sunlit Plateau (though they may have been moved around if you’ve rearranged your valley). The bushes are small and shrubby in appearance. If you’re having trouble locating them, you can also check tree bases or other foraging locations.

Delivering the Meals to Scar

Once both dishes are cooked, head to Scar’s cave and give him the Teriyaki Salmon and Snow White’s Goosebrew Pie.

Note: If you encounter a bug where the quest still shows “Give the meals to Scar” after delivering them, simply talk to Scar again and select the quest option. This will update your quest progress.

During dinner, Scar will mention that he doesn’t have his trinkets. This triggers the next phase of the quest.

The Sunbird Feeder Quest

Talking to Merlin

Next, you need to find Merlin and talk to him. Select The Making of a Monarch option in the dialogue. Merlin will direct you to gather materials to craft sunbird feeders.

Gathering Ingredients

For the sunbird feeders, you’ll need to collect:

Red Bromelades

Pink House Leaks

Dark Wood

Cotton

Softwood

Where to Find Each Ingredient:

Cotton: Available for purchase as seeds at Goofy’s stall in the Sunlit Plateau. You may also find cotton on the ground in this biome.

Softwood: Can be found at the base of trees in any biome. This is the basic wood type.

Dark Wood: This is exclusive to the Forgotten Lands. It appears as a black wood material on the ground, making it somewhat difficult to spot due to its dark color. Look carefully on the forest floor.

Red Bromelades and Pink House Leaks: Both of these flowers are found in the Sunlit Plateau. They are bushy flowers. The red bromelades are distinctive red flowers, while the pink house leaks are pink in color. Search the plateau thoroughly to collect these blooms.

Crafting Sunbird Feeders

Once you’ve gathered all the ingredients, go to Goofy’s crafting station. Under the Furniture section, locate Sunbird Feeders and craft two of them.

Placing the Feeders

Go to your inventory, select the Furniture section, find the sunbird feeders you just crafted, and place them near the pond on the Sunlit Plateau. You will have already unlocked this pond area from a previous Scar quest. The pond is located on the right-hand side of the plateau.

Feeding the Sunbirds

Return to Scar and tell him you’re ready. Scar will follow you as you head to the sunbird feeders on the plateau.

Approach the sunbirds (small birds near the feeders) and press E (on PC) or your interaction button to feed them. Click on any flower in your inventory and place it on the feeder to feed the sunbird.

Important Note: You can feed the same bird multiple times. While it’s recommended to use the same flowers used in the quest (red bromelades, pink house leaks, and gooseberries), any flower in your inventory should work. Wander around the plateau until you find the sunbirds and feed them accordingly.

Completing the Quest

After feeding the sunbirds, return to Scar’s cave. Talk to Scar again. He will comment that “it was all for nothing,” and suddenly, a mysterious piece of glass will appear in the cave.

Pick up this item—it’s called the Magic Mirror Shard (or Magic Shard Mirror). Give it to Scar, and he will recognize it as a magic mirror. This completes The Making of a Monarch quest.
