The Wolf of The Wilds & A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

This comprehensive guide covers how to complete “The Wolf of The Wilds” quest and the “A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing” fairy tale trial in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale. Follow along step-by-step as we explore the Wild Woods, gather evidence to prove the wolf’s identity is fake, and ultimately unlock Flynn Rider as a new character.

Unlocking the Quest

The Wolf of The Wilds quest is the first quest you unlock when you access the Wild Woods area in Storybook Vale. To unlock the Wild Woods, you’ll need 2,000 Story Magic. You can earn this by completing Storybook duties and various tasks available throughout Storybook Vale. This won’t take too long to accumulate.

Exploring the Wild Woods

Once you’ve cleared the way into the ink and gained access to the Wild Woods, it’s time to explore. You’ll need to locate a mysterious pathway leading downward. Look for a small path where you can move some ink, and you’ll discover an obelisk surrounded by a magical gateway that swells with ink.

After discovering the gateway, you’ll receive a task to speak with the Lorekeeper about what you’ve found. The Lorekeeper is located in the library and appears as a magical book you can interact with.

Speaking with the Lorekeeper

When you talk to the Lorekeeper, they’ll explain that this gateway contains a fairy tale trial. They’ll tell you that Maleficent rewrote the Ever After to place her castle at its furthest reach, causing the magic to go wrong. The Lorekeeper recommends seeking Merida’s aid, as she may be able to help you navigate this trial.

Following Merida to the Trial

Find Merida and talk to her. She’ll want to follow you to the fairy tale trial in the Wild Woods. As you make your way there together, you’ll notice little paw prints leading deeper into the forest—keep an eye out for any big bad wolves!

Finding the Wheel

Once you reach Merida at the trial entrance, she’ll ask you to search the area for a wheel that needs to be placed on top of the gateway structure. Follow the paw prints deeper into the forest, and you’ll find the wheel hidden behind a pink bush. Interact with it to pick it up.

After collecting the wheel, return to the gateway and interact with it to place it in the correct position. You can do this by right-clicking the wheel into place.

Once the wheel is positioned, use your net (press the spacebar or equivalent action button on console) to activate it and open the gateway.

Entering the Fairy Tale Trial: A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing

Step through the gateway to enter the first fairy tale trial called “A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing.” As you progress through the trial, you’ll encounter barriers made of ink that you’ll need to remove. Continue forward, removing the ink obstacles and using your net as needed until you reach the main chamber.

Investigating the Mysterious Doorway

At the end of the main chamber, you’ll find a mysterious, glowing, growling doorway. Interact with it and speak to the Wolf of the Wilds. The wolf will challenge you to find proof that its feet, scent, and howl are all fake. To stop the wolf from pretending, you’ll need to gather three pieces of evidence to disprove each of these characteristics.

Gathering Evidence – Part One: The Slippers

The first piece of evidence to collect is the wolf’s slippers, which will prove its feet are fake. To access this area, use a shovel or pickaxe on the structure to the side of the doorway. This will open a door on the left side of the chamber.

Go up the stairs and you’ll encounter four rotating cogs. You need to turn each cog to match specific icons:

Cog 1: Turn to the wolf icon (1 interaction)

Cog 2: Turn to the castle icon (3 interactions)

Cog 3: Turn to the dragon icon (4 interactions)

Cog 4: Turn to the flower icon (2 interactions)

Once all cogs are set correctly, you’ll receive the wolfish slippers, which serve as the first piece of evidence. Exit this area and prepare for the next trial.

Gathering Evidence – Part Two: The Wolf Odor

The second piece of evidence is the wolf’s odor. On the right-hand side of the growling door, go up the stairs and use your net to activate a lever. This opens a cooking trial where you must create the perfect wolfish musk.

You’ll be given instructions: you need only one thing directly from a wolf, you definitely need oil, and the mixture should smell like a forest, not a flower. Oil doesn’t mix with water or drool, so avoid those ingredients.

The correct recipe is:

Woodland Pine Fragrance

Oil

Wolf Fur

Collect these ingredients from the two tables in the area, then proceed to the cooking station. Add the three ingredients and cook them together to create the Wolf Odor.

Gathering Evidence – Part Three: The Howling Gramophone

The third and final piece of evidence is the howling gramophone, which will prove the wolf’s howl is fake. This area contains a digging trial where you must use your shovel to dig up the correct items. Look for the structure above the door that displays a castle icon with a gargoyle behind it.

Use your shovel to turn the gargoyle icon into a castle icon. This activates the “Not by the Hair on My Chiny-Chin Chin” quest, which is based on the Three Little Pigs nursery rhyme.

You’ll encounter three construction zones. Based on the Three Little Pigs story, place:

Zone 1: Hay (easiest to blow away)

Zone 2: Wood (sturdier)

Zone 3: Bricks (strongest)

Enter furniture placement mode and drag each material to its corresponding construction zone. Once all three are placed correctly, you’ll be able to pick up the gramophone.

Presenting the Evidence

With all three pieces of evidence collected—the wolfish slippers, the wolf odor, and the howling gramophone—return to the main chamber and speak to the door again.

Present all three items to the door. The wolf will be revealed as a fraud, and the corruption within the fairy tale trial will be exposed.

Interacting with the Corruption Source

After presenting the evidence, you’ll need to interact with the source of the corruption within the fairy tale trial. This will trigger a special sequence and reveal the true nature of the wolf’s deception.

Unlocking Flynn Rider

The final task is to place the foundation of Flynn Rider’s house anywhere in Storybook Vale. Open your inventory, navigate to Furniture, then Requests. You’ll find Flynn Rider’s house available for placement. Choose a location and place the foundation.

Once placed, unlock the house using Scrooge’s sign. This will allow you to welcome Flynn Rider to Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Talk to Flynn to complete the “A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing” quest and officially unlock Flynn Rider as a character in your valley.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed both “The Wolf of The Wilds” quest and the “A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing” fairy tale trial. By gathering the three pieces of evidence (the wolfish slippers, the wolf odor, and the howling gramophone), you’ve proven that the wolf’s identity is completely fake. As a reward, you’ve unlocked Flynn Rider as a new character and gained valuable rewards for your Storybook Vale. Continue your journey through the Ever After and discover what other fairy tale trials and characters await you!
