Eyes in the Dark Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

The “Eyes in the Dark” quest is one of the main story quests you’ll encounter in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of the quest, from clearing bushes in the Lion King Realm to setting up Pride Rock in your village. Follow along to complete this epic quest and reunite Simba with Nala.

Starting the Quest

Begin this quest by heading to the first floor of the castle in the Lion King Realm. Once you arrive, you’ll meet Nala and the quest will officially begin.

Clearing the Foreign Bushes

Your first task is to dig out the foreign bushes blocking the path. Use your shovel to excavate these bushes. You’ll receive sand and foreign bush seeds as rewards.

You need to dig out a total of five foreign bushes to collect five foreign bush seeds.

Planting and Watering the Seeds

After collecting the five seeds, plant them in the holes near the ledge in the dried-out oasis. You can plant multiple seeds at once by holding down the plant action. Use your watering can to water the seeds until they grow.

Once the foreign bushes are fully grown, they will block the path and prevent the hyenas from chasing Nala. Speak to Nala after this happens to confirm progress.

Accessing the Jungle Cave

Now you need to find a way into the cave to reach the jungle. Take out your shovel and dig out the stumps blocking the cave entrance. This will clear the path and allow you to enter the cave.

Travel through the cave and you’ll emerge in the jungle. Speak to Nala once you arrive.

Lowering the Log at the Waterfall

Nala will ask you to find a way to lower the log near the waterfall. To accomplish this, locate the massive boulder and use your pickaxe on it. This action will lower the log, allowing you to climb across.

Reuniting Simba and Nala

After crossing the log, you’ll reach Simba. Speak to him and say “Hakuna Matata” to trigger a reunification scene. Simba and Nala will attempt to get through the canyon together. He may get stuck momentarily, but he will eventually make it through. Once they’ve completed their conversation, speak to Simba again.

Collecting Bugs for the Bug Platters

Simba will inform you that he needs three types of bugs to prepare the bug platters. These are:

Slimy bugs (found in fishing pools in the jungle)

Colorful bugs (found in the dried-out oasis)

Red bugs (found deeper in the jungle)

Fishing for Slimy Bugs

A fishing pool will appear in the jungle area. Fish from it to collect slimy bugs. There are three different fishing pools you need to visit to gather enough slimy bugs.

The third fishing pool is more difficult to access due to a rock blocking the way. You may need to try multiple times to position your fishing rod correctly, but persistence will pay off.

Digging for Colorful Bugs

Head back to the dried-out oasis. Look for sparkling holes on the ground and dig into them to collect colorful bugs. You’ll need to run around and search carefully—sometimes you need to get very close to these holes to spot them.

Collecting Red Bugs

Go deeper into the jungle and locate the main stump in the middle of the area. Dig it out. After removing the stump, red bugs will appear in the area. Run around and press E when you get near them to pick them up.

Cooking the Bug Platters

You need to create three five-star bug platters using your collected bugs. Head to a cooking pot and prepare each platter with the following ingredients:

Two colorful bugs

Two red bugs

One slimy bug

You’ll also need coal to cook. If you don’t have any on you, exit the realm and retrieve some from your house or storage before returning.

Create all three bug platters by repeating this recipe three times at the cooking pot.

Delivering the Bug Platters

Once you’ve completed all three five-star bug platters, bring them to Nala. After delivery, a wave of hyenas will appear, triggering the next phase of the quest.

Getting the Sound System

Return to Disney Dreamlight Valley and speak to Scrooge McDuck. He will provide you with a sound system that can be used to scare away the hyenas by amplifying lion roars. However, the system needs repairs first.

Repairing the Sound System

Go to your crafting table and repair the sound system. You’ll need the following materials:

Five hardwood

Ten softwood

Two iron ingots

Once repaired, return to Nala in the Lion King Realm with the repaired sound system.

Setting Up Pride Rock

After the hyenas are scared away by the sound system roars, return to your village. You’ll now need to place Pride Rock as a furniture item in your village. This serves as Simba and Nala’s home.

Sunset Plateau is an ideal location for Pride Rock thematically, though you can place it wherever you prefer in your village.

Once placed, use the sign outside Pride Rock to unlock the full location, which allows you to welcome Nala into the village.

Completing the Quest

Speak to Nala one final time to complete the “Eyes in the Dark” quest. Congratulations! You’ve successfully reunited Simba with Nala and established Pride Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
