Quest Overview

The Mine Mystery is a friendship quest given by Hodari. It involves gathering materials and investigating mysterious occurrences around the mines. You’ll need to collect iron ore, catch bugs, and speak with multiple NPCs to progress through the story.

Step 1: Gather Iron Ore

Your first objective is to gather iron ore. Start by locating an iron node and using your pickaxe to mine it. Iron nodes are commonly found throughout the game world.

Equip your pickaxe and approach the iron node. Strike it repeatedly until you collect enough iron ore pieces.

Step 2: Deliver Iron Ore to Hodari

Once you’ve gathered the iron ore, head to Hodari’s house. When you arrive, press G to initiate a chat with Hodari and give him the iron ore you’ve collected.

After delivering the iron ore, the quest will update and Hodari will tell you to wait for further information.

Step 3: Catch Paper Lantern Bugs

While waiting for Hodari to contact you again, you’ll need to catch 5 paper lantern bugs. These are glowing bugs that only spawn between 6pm and 3am, so you’ll need to hunt during nighttime hours.

Head to the outskirts to search for these bugs. Look for small, glowing insect-like creatures that emit a distinct glow in the darkness.

Use your bug-catching net on each paper lantern bug you find. You need to collect exactly 5 of them.

Remember, these bugs only appear between 6pm and 3am, so plan your hunting accordingly. The glowing nature of these bugs makes them easier to spot in the dark.

Continue searching the area until you’ve caught all 5 paper lantern bugs needed for the quest.

Step 4: Meet Najuma at Your Place

Once you’ve collected the 5 paper lantern bugs, return to your home using fast travel or your stable. Najuma will be waiting for you there.

Approach Najuma and press G to initiate a conversation. She will provide you with important information about the mines and update your quest objectives.

Step 5: Return to Hodari and Deliver the Bugs

After speaking with Najuma, head back to Hodari’s house in Mahari Bay. This time, you’ll have a new objective related to the mines.

Talk to Hodari again to discuss what Najuma told you about the hunted mines. The quest will update once more.

Step 6: Complete the Final Objective

You will now need to provide Hodari with 5 paper lantern bugs (glow bugs) as part of the final phase of the quest. Make sure you have all 5 bugs collected before proceeding.

Once you’ve given Hodari the paper lantern bugs and completed all objectives, speak with him one final time to complete the Mine Mystery quest.
