How To Get Favour In Age of Mythology Retold
How To Get Favour In Age of Mythology Retold
Favour (also known as “lightning”) is a crucial resource in Age of Mythology Retold that you’ll need to generate throughout your gameplay. The methods for obtaining favour vary significantly depending on which civilization you’re playing. This guide will walk you through all the different ways to get favour for each of the four civilizations in the game: Greeks, Egyptians, Atlanteans, and Norse.
Greeks
For the Greek civilization, generating favour is straightforward. Simply select your villagers and right-click on a temple to have them start praying. Once they begin praying at the temple, you’ll see your favour meter start to increase steadily.

Egyptians
The Egyptian civilization has an even simpler method for generating favour—they use monuments. To get started, select a villager and begin building a monument.

Monument Types and Generation Rates
The Egyptians can construct several different types of monuments, each generating favour at different rates. You must build smaller monuments before you can unlock the larger ones. Here’s the progression:
Monument to Villagers: 10 favour per second
Monument to Soldiers: 10 favour per second
Monument to Priests: 10 favour per second
Monument to Pharaohs: 10 favour per second
Monument to Gods: 20 favour per second

Each monument type can only be built once, but the higher-tier monuments you construct, the more favour you’ll generate overall. The Monument to Gods is the most efficient, generating twice the favour of the lower-tier monuments.

Atlanteans
The Atlantean civilization has a unique approach to favour generation in the Retold version of Age of Mythology. While the original game involved spreading civilization and building town halls, the retold version uses Oracles instead.

Using Oracles for Passive Favour Generation
Oracles passively generate favour for you over time, though the generation rate is relatively slow. Each Oracle you control will contribute a small amount of favour continuously. The favour generation is based on how far the Oracle can see, with a maximum rate of 3.6 favour per minute.

If you upgrade an Oracle to a hero unit, it will generate even more favour than a standard Oracle, making this a worthwhile investment if you’re focused on favour generation.

Norse
The Norse civilization generates favour through a completely different mechanic—combat. Whenever your Norse units attack enemy buildings or enemy units during battle, they generate favour as part of the conflict. This makes the Norse unique, as their favour generation is tied directly to military aggression and warfare rather than construction or passive effects.

Summary
Each civilization in Age of Mythology Retold has a distinct method for generating favour:
Greeks: Build temples and have villagers pray
Egyptians: Construct monuments (with varying favour generation rates)
Atlanteans: Use Oracles for passive favour generation
Norse: Generate favour through military combat and attacks
Understanding these favour-generation methods is essential for effective gameplay, as favour is required for many important in-game functions across all civilizations. Choose the civilization that best matches your preferred playstyle, and you’ll be generating favour efficiently in no time.
