This comprehensive guide walks you through the “A Taste for Literature” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Follow along as we discover a mysterious cookbook, consult with Chef Remi, gather ingredients from villagers, and unlock a special new resident in the valley.

How to Start the Quest

The quest begins when you pick up a recipe book. In this guide, the recipe book was found in the Vale of Trust, simply sitting on the ground in that location. Once you’ve collected it, you’ll have the A Taste for Literature quest active in your journal.

Consulting Chef Remi About the Cookbook

Head to Chef Remi’s location and talk to him about the mysterious cookbook you found. When you interact with him, select the “A Taste for Literature” dialogue option and ask what you should do about the cookbook. Chef Remi will suggest meeting at his restaurant to examine it together.

Enter the restaurant and speak with Chef Remi again. Once you’re inside, a memory will appear that you can pick up. This memory shows Moana, Mickey, Marlin, and Remi sharing a meal together—specifically what appears to be a risotto dish.

Talk to the Villagers from the Memory

After viewing the memory, Chef Remi instructs you to talk to the villagers who appeared in it. You’ll need to visit the following characters:

Mickey

Marlin

Moana

Start by heading to Mickey’s house and speaking with him.

Next, go to Marlin and interact with him. Select the “A Taste for Literature” dialogue option, and he will give you pink pepper as a contribution to the recipe.

Finally, visit Moana. She will tell you that there are onions in the mysterious recipe you’re trying to recreate.

Cooking the Mysterious Cajun Recipe

With the information gathered from all three villagers, it’s time to cook the dish. Head to your house and go to the oven or cooking station.

Before you start cooking, you can press the “Skip Results Screen” button to make the cooking process quicker.

The recipe you’ll be cooking is Enchanted Shrimp Étouffée. You’ll need the following ingredients:

Shrimp

Onions

Rice

Milk

Pink Pepper (the ingredient Marlin gave you)

Click “Auto Fill” to automatically populate these ingredients, then proceed with cooking.

Sharing the Dish with the Villagers

Once you’ve cooked the Enchanted Shrimp Étouffée, you need to share it with the four villagers from the memory: Moana, Mickey, Marlin, and Remi. You only need one portion to complete this step. Each villager will take a bite of the dish.

Start by sharing with Mickey.

Then share with Marlin and Moana respectively.

Finally, share the dish with Chef Remi himself. After this final sharing, something unexpected happens—you’ll unlock a new villager!

Unlocking Tiana and Placing Her House

After sharing the enchanted shrimp with Remi, you’ll unlock Tiana as a new resident in your valley. This is the character from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog.” You’ll also receive another portion of Enchanted Shrimp Étouffée to give to her as a welcome gift.

Head to Tiana and share the enchanted shrimp with her.

Now it’s time to place Tiana’s house in the valley. You’ll receive her house as part of the quest reward. Choose a suitable location in your valley where you’d like to place it.

Once placed, click on the sign in front of her house to officially unlock it and complete this step of the quest.

Final Step: Deliver the Recipe Book to Tiana

The final task is to bring the mysterious recipe book to Tiana for safekeeping. Go to Tiana’s house and give her the recipe book. This completes the entire “A Taste for Literature” quest.
