Starting the Quest: Talk to Belle

Begin your Book Hunt quest by finding and talking to Belle. She will ask you to speak with several other villagers to gather information about the books you need to find.

Speaking with the Villagers

Belle will direct you to talk to four key villagers. Visit each one and select the “Book Hunt” dialogue option:

Required Conversations

Scrooge McDuck – Choose the Book Hunt option when you talk to him

Remi – You’ll find him in the plaza. Select Book Hunt

Mirabel – Speak with her and choose Book Hunt

Goofy – The final conversation partner for this quest phase

Gathering the Borrowed Books

After speaking with the villagers, you’ll need to collect four borrowed books. You will receive one book from Goofy during your conversation with him. The other three books are located in different areas:

Book Locations

1. Coin-Pull Theory (Buried on the Beach)

Head to the beach and look for a brown book buried in the sand. Search around the beach area where books are likely to be hidden. When you find the spot, dig it up to collect the book.

2. Extraordinary Rat Ventures (Waters of the Beach)

Travel to the end of the dock at the beach. You’ll see a purple pole at the dock’s end. Fish at this purple pole to catch “Extraordinary Rat Ventures.” This is your fishing spot for this particular book.

3. Crafty Creatures (Plaza)

Go to the plaza and look for “Crafty Creatures.” You should find this book lying around the plaza area. Simply pick it up to add it to your inventory.

Return Books to Belle

Once you’ve collected all four books, return to Belle and give them to her. She will take all the borrowed books from you.

Listening to Belle and Merlin’s Conversation

After giving Belle the books, a cutscene will trigger. Follow Belle as she goes to speak with Merlin. Stand nearby and listen to their entire conversation before proceeding to the next step.

Traveling to Merlin’s House (Dream Light Library)

The next location you need to reach is the Dream Light Library, which is actually Merlin’s house. Merlin’s house is located in the Floating Islands. Head there now.

Matching Books to Their Categories

Once you’re inside Merlin’s house, talk to Belle again. She will present you with a matching game where you need to place each book in its correct literary category. Here are the correct matches:

Crafty Creatures belongs in Wandless Arts and Crafts

Coin-Pull Theory belongs in Monetary Physics and Swim Strokes

Extraordinary Rat Ventures belongs in Magical Contract Law

Be careful not to confuse these categories. “Magical Contract Law” is the correct match for one of the books, not “Prophecies: What Could Go Wrong?” as you might initially guess.

Completing the Quest

Once you’ve successfully matched all the books to their correct categories, the Book Hunt quest will be marked as complete! You’ll receive your quest reward and can move on to other adventures in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
