Burying the Eel Quest Guide in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Burying the Eel Quest Guide in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Welcome to this complete quest guide for “Burying the Eel” in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This quest is unlocked by talking to Maui at friendship level 2 and is a fun reference to the Disney film Moana. Follow this step-by-step walkthrough to complete the quest and grow your own coconuts.

Starting the Quest: Talk to Maui

Begin by speaking with Maui at friendship level 2. He’ll mention that while the village is nice, it’s missing something important: coconuts. He’ll ask you to help him get some, which starts the “Burying the Eel” quest.

Gather Worms for Fishing

The first step is to talk to Goofy to learn about fishing for eels. Goofy will explain that you need worms to attract eels to your fishing trap.

Finding Worms

To find worms, equip your shovel and look for glowing patches on the ground near bodies of water. These patches indicate where you can dig up worms. You’ll need to collect 3 worms total for this quest.

Check near lakes, ponds, and other water sources in the Meadow area. If you run out of locations to search, try looking near the river in the Forest of Valla as well. Finding worms does involve some luck, as you may occasionally dig up other items like coal instead.

Make sure your inventory has room before digging. If your inventory is full, drop an item to make space for the worms you find.

Collect Softwood

In addition to worms, you’ll need softwood to craft a fishing trap. Softwood is simply twigs that lie around naturally in the Meadow and Plaza areas. You need 8 pieces of softwood for this quest.

Craft a Fishing Trap

Once you have 3 worms and 8 softwood, head to Goofy’s crafting table. Use the crafting menu to create a fishing trap using your worms and softwood.

Place the Fishing Trap and Catch an Eel

Travel to the dock on Dazzle Beach and place your fishing trap. After placing it, return to talk to Maui, who will tell you to check the trap often and catch whatever swims nearby.

Return to the fishing trap location and look for a fishing spot. You’ll notice colored rippling areas in the water—look for an orange rippling spot near the dock. This is where you’ll find and catch the eel.

Give the Eel to Maui

Bring the caught eel back to Maui and give it to him as part of the quest.

Bury and Water the Eel

Now for the fun part—bury the eel on the beach! Equip your shovel and plant the eel in the ground, just as Maui sings about in the Disney film Moana.

After burying the eel, water it using your watering can. This will cause the eel to transform into coconuts—the exact outcome Maui was hoping for!

Complete the Quest

Harvest the coconuts that have grown and bring them to Maui. Give him the coconuts to complete the “Burying the Eel” quest. You’ll receive your quest completion reward, and Maui will be pleased with the results of your gardening effort.

Summary

The “Burying the Eel” quest is a delightful homage to Disney’s Moana and involves a fun series of steps: gathering worms and softwood, crafting a fishing trap, catching an eel, and then literally burying it to grow coconuts. This creative quest perfectly blends gameplay mechanics with storytelling and rewards you with valuable coconuts for your village.
