Starting the Quest

Begin by talking to Maui to start the Demigod of the Wind and Sun quest. Maui will explain that the village is developing nicely with all the resources you’ve brought, including coconuts, and will ask what you’d like to do next.

Crafting Kites

The primary objective of this quest involves making kites, as Maui is the Demigod of the Wind and Sun. To get started, Maui will provide you with dark ink, so you won’t need to worry about obtaining that resource yourself.

Materials Needed

To craft the kites, you’ll need to gather the following materials:

18 soft wood

35 fiber

Dark ink (provided by Maui)

Making Fiber

If you’re unsure how to make fiber, it’s crafted using seaweed. One seaweed produces five fiber, so plan accordingly when gathering your materials.

Crafting the Kites

Once you’ve collected the soft wood and made the fiber, head to functional items in your crafting menu. Here you’ll craft three kites using the dark ink, soft wood, and fiber you’ve prepared.

Distributing Kites to Villagers

After crafting three kites, Maui will ask you to deliver them to specific villagers. He mentions Goofy (the old guy in the pointy hat), Walle (the little rolling box), and Merlin.

Delivering to Walle

First, locate Walle and give him one of the kites you’ve crafted.

Next, find Goofy and deliver a kite to him as well.

After successfully fishing the limestone from the orange fishing circle, bring it to Maui. He’ll acknowledge that there was indeed something valuable down there and that it must be useful.
