How to Beat Chimps Mode in Bloons TD6

Chimps mode is the ultimate challenge in Bloons TD6. With restrictions on continues, hearts lost, income, towers, monkey knowledge, powers, and tower selling, you’ll need a solid strategy to succeed. This guide walks you through a proven approach to conquer Chimps mode, starting from the early game all the way through to the final round.

Understanding Chimps Mode Restrictions

Chimps mode imposes several critical limitations that make it fundamentally different from other difficulty modes. You cannot use continues if you lose all your lives, you cannot generate income through any means, you cannot place free towers with monkey knowledge, you cannot use any powers, and you cannot sell towers to recoup money. These restrictions mean you must be very deliberate about every tower placement and upgrade choice. Additionally, the prices are fixed around hard difficulty, which gives you slightly more breathing room compared to impoppable mode.

Early Game Strategy (Rounds 1-20)

Starting with Ninja and Dart Monkey

Begin by placing a Ninja monkey as your first tower. Since you don’t have access to monkey knowledge, you won’t be able to place a free dart monkey. After the first round, upgrade your Ninja with Seeking Shuriken as your first upgrade—this should be available by round 2.

Next, place a Dart monkey at the end of the track and set its targeting to “Last.” This positioning is crucial because you’ll convert it into a Catapult, and targeting the last balloon ensures maximum DPS as the catapult fires straight down the lane at the bend.

Building Your Defense

After establishing your Ninja and Catapult, upgrade your Ninja with Ninja Discipline and Sharp Shuriken next. Then add Quick Shots to your Catapult to increase its fire rate.

Mid Game Setup (Rounds 20-40)

Adding an Alchemist for Buffing

Invest in an Alchemist to buff your towers. Set its targeting to “Strong” so it targets lead balloons as they appear in the upcoming rounds. Work toward getting Berserker Brew as your primary upgrade path, though Double Shot may be useful first depending on your economy.

Introducing a Bomb Shooter

Add a Bomb Shooter for strong single-target damage. Place it as close to the edge as possible to maximize coverage. Upgrade it along the middle path and set its targeting to “Strong” as well. Work toward the Moab Mauler upgrade, which will be essential for handling MOABs (Massive Ornery Air Bloons).

Monkey Village for Buffing

Invest in a Monkey Village to boost your overall DPS. Upgrade it with Jungle Drums for additional attack speed. This will help you handle the upcoming MOAB threats.

Mid-Late Game Expansion (Rounds 40-63)

Adding Ninja Discipline and Blade Maelstrom

Upgrade your Ninja with Blade Maelstrom to dramatically increase its piercing power and crowd control capabilities. This will help manage the ceramic balloons that appear in later rounds.

Boomerang Monkey for Crowd Control

Place a Boomerang Monkey below the Alchemist to keep it in range of your Monkey Village buffs. Upgrade it toward Moar Glaives, which provides excellent pierce alongside your other crowd control towers. Add Faster Throwing to increase its effectiveness.

Monkey Ace for Air Support

Place a Monkey Ace at the top of the map and upgrade it with Nevamiss targeting and Rapid Fire. This significant DPS boost will help you handle round 63, which is a major bottleneck with dense balloon waves.

Late Game Critical Upgrades (Rounds 63-80)

Ice Monkey for Defense

Place an Ice Monkey and upgrade it toward Icicle Impale (the 0-2-5 path). The middle path is preferable since you’ll already have Camera Site from your Monkey Village and will soon get M.I.B. (Middle Infantryman). The Ice Monkey provides crucial crowd control by freezing incoming bloons.

Middle Infantryman for Frozen Bloon Popping

Work toward getting M.I.B. on your Dart Monkey. This is critical because once the Ice Monkey starts freezing bloons, your other towers (like darts) can’t damage them. M.I.B. allows you to pop frozen bloons effectively, solving a major defense gap.

Upgrading to Assassin

Upgrade your Dart Monkey to M.I.B. Assassin for better single-target damage alongside the M.I.B. benefits.

DDT Preparation (Rounds 81-95)

Stronger Stimulant and Icicle Impale

Upgrade your Alchemist with Stronger Stimulant to further boost your DPS. For your Ice Monkey, prioritize Icicle Impale, which provides defensive slowing for upcoming DDts (Durable Destructive Tarryingtons) rather than going for Specter immediately. Since DDTs arrive around round 81, defensive upgrades may be more valuable initially.

Specter for Massive Firepower

Once you’ve handled the initial DDT waves, save up for Specter on your Dart Monkey (via the T5 top path from the Monkey Ace). This massive DPS increase will help you manage the remaining super-ceramics and tough balloons.

Final Defense (Rounds 95+)

Glue Monkey for Additional Control

Place a Glue Monkey as close to the front of the track as possible. Upgrade it along the top path toward Stronger Glue and Acid Pool. Work toward your tier 5 upgrade, Balloon Solver, which will complete your defensive setup.

Balloon Liquefry and Balloon Solver

Upgrade your Glue Monkey with Balloon Liquefry and then push toward Balloon Solver. This tier 5 upgrade provides exceptional defensive utility and will round out your complete defense for the remainder of the game.

Final Round Preparation

Save your final money to purchase Call to Arms on your Monkey Village for the final round. This buff will give your entire defense a massive DPS boost to finish off the last balloon waves cleanly.

Summary and Victory

Beating Chimps mode requires careful resource management and a balanced tower composition. Your core defense revolves around a buffed Ninja providing consistent damage, an Ice Monkey slowing everything down, an Alchemist boosting your towers, a Monkey Ace for air coverage, and support from Bomb Shooter, Boomerang, Dart, and Glue monkeys. The key to success is prioritizing upgrades that address specific threats—lead balloons, ceramics, DDTs, and flying enemies. By following this progression and adapting your upgrades to handle each major bottleneck, you’ll successfully complete Chimps mode.
