Perch can be caught in specific areas throughout Disney Dreamlight Valley. You have access to the following locations:

If you have the expansion pack, you’ll have access to four fishing locations instead of two. For this tutorial, we’ll head to the Sunlit Plateau to demonstrate the fishing process.

White Ripples: The Essential Requirement

The most important requirement for catching perch is using white ripples. Not all ripples in the water will give you perch—you need to specifically target the white ripples.

When scanning the water, you may see orange ripples and other colored ripples. These will not yield perch. Only white ripples are suitable for catching perch. This is a critical distinction that will save you time and frustration.

Keep in mind that your fishing rod may change appearance during the process. For example, you might notice your rod changing from white to orange due to rare chances triggering on your fishing rod. This is a normal game mechanic and doesn’t affect your ability to find white ripples in the water.

Expert Tips to Increase Your Perch Catch Rate

Tip 1: Bring a Fishing Villager

Always take a villager with you who is assigned to fishing. If you don’t have a villager with this role, you can change one by using the Fishing Training Manual. Simply give this manual to any villager who has reached level 10, and they will change their role to fishing.

Tip 2: Use Miracle Fishing Bait

There are two types of miracle fishing bait available:

Even More Miraculous Fishing Bait: The premium version that provides 25 uses on your fishing rod, significantly increasing your chances of landing bigger and better catches.

Miracle Fishing Bait: A more basic version that requires fewer ingredients but is less effective than the “even more” version.

The Even More Miraculous Fishing Bait is unlocked mid-game. You can craft it at your crafting bench by navigating to the Potion and Enchantment section.

Tip 3: Complete Moana’s Quests for Her Fishing Ship

If you haven’t already, complete all quests with Moana. Upon completion, you’ll unlock Moana’s Fishing Ship, a passive fishing tool that works wonders for your daily fishing routine.

The ship passively collects fish over time. Once fully upgraded, it will collect 20 fish per day. You can return to the ship each day to collect your accumulated fish without any active fishing effort required.
