How To Remove A Lung Or Other Organs In Rimworld

In Rimworld, you can harvest organs from your colonists for a variety of purposes, including selling them to black market traders. This guide walks you through the process of removing a lung or any other body part from a colonist using the medical and operations system.

Getting Started With Organ Removal

To begin removing organs, you’ll need a colonist who can serve as the patient. While the patient doesn’t need to be in bed (you could use pyroviate elsewhere), having them in the medical bay makes the process much easier and more organized.

Select your patient colonist—in this example, we’re using Anna. Once selected, navigate to the Health tab at the top of the screen.

Accessing The Operations Menu

Within the Health tab, look for the Add Bill button and click it. This will open a list of available medical operations you can perform.

Choosing Which Organ To Harvest

The operations menu displays all harvestable body parts available on your patient. You can harvest:

Heart

Left Lung

Right Lung

Other organs and body parts

Select the organ you wish to remove. In this tutorial, we’re harvesting the left lung by clicking Harvest Left Lung.

Assigning A Doctor To The Operation

Once you’ve selected the organ to harvest, you need to assign a colonist with the doctoring skill to perform the operation. Click on your available doctor to assign them to the task.

If you want to prioritize the operation immediately, right-click on your doctor colonist and select Prioritize Operating. This ensures they come over straight away rather than waiting for their normal work schedule.

Watching The Operation Complete

Your doctor will now head to the patient with a medical pack and begin the operation. They will automatically remove the body part you specified. The removed organ will appear as an item that can be picked up, transported, and sold to black market traders or used for other purposes.
