How to Upgrade Weapons and Armour in Grounded

Upgrading your weapons and armour is essential for progressing through Grounded and taking on tougher enemies. This guide will walk you through the upgrade process, the materials you’ll need, and where to find them.

Setting Up Your Smithing Station

To upgrade any weapons or armour in Grounded, you’ll need access to a Smithing Station. Once you’ve built one, interact with it to begin the upgrade process.

Upgrading Armour

Select the piece of armour you want to upgrade from the Smithing Station menu. For example, you can upgrade a Red Ant Helmet by choosing it from your inventory.

Press the spacebar (or your confirm button) to see available upgrade options. You’ll notice that you can upgrade multiple times, but each upgrade requires specific plating materials.

There are three tiers of plating needed for armour upgrades:

  • Brittle Plating — for early-tier upgrades
  • Sturdy Plating — for mid-tier upgrades
  • Supreme Plating — for high-tier upgrades

Upgrading Weapons

Upgrading weapons follows a similar process. Select your weapon—such as a Pebble Spear—and choose to upgrade it at the Smithing Station.

Weapons require wetstone materials to upgrade, which can be obtained from quartz deposits. Like armour plating, there are three tiers of wetstone:

  • Brittle Wetstone
  • Sturdy Wetstone
  • Supreme Wetstone

Progressing Through Higher Tiers

As you reach higher upgrade levels, the materials required become increasingly difficult to obtain. You’ll need to seek out rarer sources of brittle, sturdy, and supreme plating and wetstone to continue upgrading your gear.

Summary

Upgrading weapons and armour in Grounded is straightforward once you have a Smithing Station built. Remember to gather the appropriate plating materials for armour and wetstone for weapons, and be prepared to seek out higher-tier materials as your gear progresses. This will keep your character powerful and ready for the challenges ahead.
