One Step Behind Quest Guide in Palia

Looking to complete the “One Step Behind” quest in Palia? This guide will walk you through each step of finding traces of Tamala, starting from Sumbira. Starting the Quest

After accepting the quest from Sumbira, you’ll receive your first objective marker. Your goal is to find traces of Tamala by inspecting glowing purple footprints throughout the area.

Inspecting Tamala’s Footprints

First Footprint Location

Head to the first flag marked on your compass. When you arrive, you’ll see glowing purple footprints that need to be inspected. Simply interact with them to complete this step.

After inspecting the first footprints, your quest will automatically update, and a new marker will appear on your compass showing the next location.

Second Footprint Location

Follow your compass to the second mark. You’ll need to travel approximately 65 meters to reach it. Once there, inspect the second set of footprints just as you did with the first.

The quest updates again, directing you approximately 70 meters to the next location.

Third Footprint and Meeting Sifu

Find and inspect the third footprint. After this interaction, you’ll need to meet Sifu, who will be waiting for you just south of this location.

Speak with Sifu to trigger a conversation. Upon completion, you’ll receive the Sifu’s Protection Charm and a new quest marker approximately 95 meters away.

Climbing to the Cave Entrance

Follow your new marker up a steep climb. You’ll be heading to a location high up on a mountain or cliff. Use the tree trunks to help you climb and reach the cave entrance that awaits you at the top.

Exploring the Cave

Once you enter the cave, the quest will update with a new objective. Your goal is to inspect the quest item inside the cave. You may need to wander around a bit to locate it, but keep an eye out for an interactive node that stands out from the environment.

Read the node when you find it. This will trigger the final quest update.

Meeting Tamala and Completing the Quest

After inspecting the node, head back to the cave exit or proceed deeper into the cave where you’ll encounter Tamala. Engage in conversation with her, and choose the dialogue option to complete the quest. Your interaction will conclude the “One Step Behind” quest successfully.
