Staking Your Territory Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

Welcome to this comprehensive guide for the Staking Your Territory quest, Nala’s first friendship quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This quest involves gathering items, dressing up in rustic clothing, fishing, and cooking a meal for Nala. Follow this step-by-step guide to complete it successfully.

Starting the Quest

Begin by talking to Nala to initiate the quest. She will give you specific tasks to complete throughout the quest.

Step 1: Order and Place Scar’s Lounging Rock

The first task requires you to order Scar’s Lounging Rock from Scrooge’s store. If you don’t already own this item, head to the store and speak to Scrooge. Navigate to the furniture section and look for the item request at the top of the menu.

The lounging rock costs 4,600 to order. Once purchased, you need to place it in Dazzle Beach for Nala to use for napping.

Step 2: Place Seven Landscaping Items

In addition to Scar’s lounging rock, you’ll need to place seven items from the landscaping category in Dazzle Beach. You can choose any landscaping items you prefer—palm trees work well for this task. Place all items in the beach area to complete this requirement.

Step 3: Dress in Rustic Clothing with a Mustache

Nala wants you to dress up in rustic clothing and wear a mustache or stash. Open your wardrobe and access Nala’s quest requests to see the available rustic outfit options. Apply the rustic clothing items and add a mustache to complete this step.

Step 4: Meet Nala at Dazzle Beach for Pouncing Lessons

Travel to Dazzle Beach and find Nala to meet her for pouncing lessons. Follow her to the designated location and talk to her to proceed with the next part of the quest.

Step 5: Catch Uncommon, Common, Rare, and Unique Fish

Nala wants you to catch fish to show her that it’s not too difficult. You’ll need to catch both common/uncommon fish and rare/unique fish.

Finding Uncommon and Common Fish

These fish are easier to find and can be caught from any fishing spot on the map.

Finding Rare and Unique Fish

For rare fish, look for blue and red pools on Dazzle Beach or other areas of the map. Fish like shrimp are confirmed to count as rare fish. You can fish from these colored pools to obtain rare catches.

Important Note About Freshly Caught Fish

You must catch fresh fish for this quest—you cannot use fish you’ve previously stored in your inventory. Even if you have shrimp or other fish stored from earlier gameplay, the quest requires newly caught specimens. Be sure to fish fresh from the pools to satisfy this requirement.

Step 6: Cook a Fish Meal

Once you’ve gathered your fish, you need to cook a fish meal to give to Nala. Head to your cooking station and select a fish-based recipe. Options include:

Grilled Fish – Uses any fish as an ingredient

Crispy Baked Cod – Requires cod and wheat

Any other fish meal recipe from your recipe book

If you’ve already made fish meals previously, you can access your recipe book on the left side of the cooking menu to select a previously used recipe for faster preparation.

Note on Shrimp

Shrimp are classified as seafood rather than fish, so it’s safest to use actual fish varieties when cooking your meal to ensure the quest accepts it properly.

Step 7: Give the Meal to Nala

After cooking your fish meal, return to Nala and give her the dish. She’ll be impressed by your fishing and cooking skills, and the quest will be marked as complete.

Congratulations! You have successfully completed the Staking Your Territory quest. Nala will acknowledge your accomplishments, and you’ll have strengthened your friendship with her.
