The Curse Quest Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Curse Quest is an automatic quest that triggers after you meet Christoph and Donald Duck in the Forest of Aller. This guide walks you through every step needed to complete the quest, including where to find NPCs, what ingredients to gather, and how to break the curse affecting Dreamlight Valley.

Starting the Quest: Talk to Merlin

Your first objective is to locate and speak with Merlin about the curse. Head to the Beach where Merlin can be found. He’ll explain the situation and inform you about the cursed tree that needs investigating.

Investigate the Curse Tree in the Glade of Trust

Travel to the Glade of Trust and locate the large cursed tree. It’s easy to spot due to its distinctive appearance. Investigate the tree to trigger a cinematic sequence.

After the cinematic plays, you’ll learn that you’ve unleashed a curse upon Dreamlight Valley. This triggers the next phase of the quest.

Enter the Cabin and Meet Mother Gothel

Enter the cabin inside the giant cursed tree. Here you’ll meet Mother Gothel, who has been imprisoned in the mirror. She reveals that by freeing her, you’ve unleashed dark magic across the village. She directs you to the Pillar of Trust in the Glade of Trust.

Finding the Pillar of Trust

Follow Mother Gothel across the bridge to the Pillar of Trust located in the Glade of Trust. Once there, speak with her again to progress the quest.

Consult with Merlin About the Curse

Return to Merlin on the Beach. You’ll find him speaking with Ashela. Listen to their conversation, then talk to Merlin to learn how to help break the curse.

Speak with Ashela

After discussing the situation with Merlin, talk to Ashela about what needs to be done next.

Gather the Required Ingredients

Ashela will ask you to gather specific ingredients to perform a spell. You’ll need:

5 Night Shards

5 Dream Shards

Crafting Night Shards

Night Shards can be crafted at the Crafting Bench using Onyx, which you can mine from stones throughout the village. Craft at least 5 Night Shards (6 recommended to have a buffer).

Collecting Dream Shards

Dream Shards should already be in your inventory from previous activities. Check your inventory to confirm you have at least 5 Dream Shards available.

Convince Christoph to Perform the Spell

Find Christoph in the Forest of Valor (though his location may vary). Speak with him and convince him to help perform the spell to break the curse.

Meet Ashela in the Cave

Travel to the cave on Dazzle Beach where you first met Ashela. This is located at the far end of the beach. Gather there with Christoph and Ashela.

Hand Over the Ingredients

Give both the Night Shards and Dream Shards to Ashela. Once she receives the ingredients, the spell will begin.

Enter Limbo and Retrieve the Orb of Trust

After the spell is cast, you’ll transform into a ghost-like form and enter a limbo state. Your objective is to retrieve the Orb of Trust from the floating island in the Glade of Trust.

Exit the cave and make your way back to the Glade of Trust. The environment will be very dark, making navigation challenging, so move carefully.

Locating the Orb

Head to the Pillar of Trust at the bottom of the Glade of Trust. Look for the waterfall and proceed just before it. You’ll find steps leading to the Orb of Trust. Note that the Orb is not marked on your map, so look carefully near the waterfall area.

Return the Orb to the Pillar

Once you’ve collected the Orb of Trust, return to the Pillar of Trust and place the Orb back where it belongs. This action will break the curse affecting Dreamlight Valley.

Final Step: Speak with Mother Gothel

The final step is to find Mother Gothel and speak with her to complete the quest. She will no longer be in her house—look for her out and about in the village.

Quest Complete!

Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed the Curse Quest. The curse has been lifted from Dreamlight Valley, and Mother Gothel has been freed. You can now enjoy the restored village and continue your adventures in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
