This comprehensive quest guide will walk you through every step of The Great Blizzard quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. From your initial meeting with Merlin to the final confrontation in the secret chamber, you’ll learn exactly what to do to complete this magical adventure and restore peace to the Frosted Heights.

Initial Quest Setup: Consulting with Merlin

Begin by clicking on The Great Blizzard quest to activate it. Your first objective is to travel to Merlin and consult with him about the magical blizzard affecting the Frosted Heights. Head to Merlin’s location and speak with him to learn more about the situation.

Exploring the Frosted Heights

Your next task is to head to the Frosted Heights and search for clues about the source of the blizzard. Look around carefully as you explore this snowy region to gather information.

Discovering the Secret Chamber

Travel to the back area of the Frosted Heights where you’ll notice a distinctive wall with a door. Interact with this door to trigger a short cinematic sequence that will lead you into the secret chamber hidden within the wall.

Retrieving Olaf’s Items from the Squirrels

Inside the secret chamber, you’ll discover that mischievous squirrels have stolen Olaf’s carrot nose and button. Your mission is to chase down four scary squirrels throughout the Blizzard area to recover these items.

Finding and Collecting the Items

Run around the blizzard area and locate each squirrel. When you get close enough to them, simply interact with the squirrels to pick up the stolen items. There are four items to collect in total from these mischievous creatures.

Returning Items to Olaf

Once you’ve collected all four items from the squirrels, return to the secret chamber and give Olaf his nose and other belongings back.

Investigating the Pillars

Speaking with Merlin Again

After returning Olaf’s items, exit the secret chamber and go back outside. Speak with Merlin to receive new instructions about investigating the pillars in the Frozen Heights.

Using the Watering Can on Sparkling Sparkles

Merlin wants you to investigate one of the pillars in the Frozen Heights. You’ll notice sparkling sparkles next to the pillar. Use your watering can on these sparkles to melt them away and reveal what’s underneath. The pillar will then appear to look like itself again.

Returning to the Secret Chamber

Go back and speak with Merlin about what you’ve discovered, then return to Olaf in the secret chamber once more.

Watering the Sparkling Snow

In the secret chamber, you’ll find sparkling snow that needs attention. Talk to Olaf and then use your watering can on the sparkling snow to melt it. You’ll also need to water another sparkling patch near the portal at the end of the chamber using the same method.

Speak with Olaf again after completing this task.

Gathering the Dreamlight Prism Components

Finding the Portal Book

Olaf will tell you that you need to get a book about portals. There’s a grey book located on the right-hand side near Olaf in the secret chamber. Pick up this correct book (note: there’s also a purple hexing book nearby, but that’s not the one you need).

Collecting Shattered Prism Pieces

You’ll need to gather three pieces of shattered prism, which appear as glass bits scattered around the secret chamber. You can find one near Olaf, one in the main area, and the third one near the entrance behind the fawns.

Crafting the Dreamlight Prism

You’ll also need to craft purified night shards and glass at your crafting bench. At the crafting bench, navigate to the functional items section and create a Dreamlight Prism using the following materials:

3 Shattered Prisms

5 Purified Night Shards

10 Glass

Placing the Prism and Installing Gems

Positioning the Dreamlight Prism

Return to the secret chamber where Olaf is located. You’ll see a pedestal where you need to place the Dreamlight Prism. Interact with the pedestal and place the prism inside.

Installing the Missing Gems

Once the prism is placed, you’ll need to identify and install the missing gems in three slots around the pedestal:

Bottom Left Gem: Amethyst (can be found in the Frosted Heights)

Middle Gem: Citrine (an orange gem)

Top Right Gem (near the portal): Emerald (a green gem)

The Portal Ritual and The Orb

Whispering Your Deepest Fear

After all gems are installed, a special cinematic will play. You’ll be asked to whisper one of your deepest fears to the flickering portal in the chamber. This is a key moment in the quest narrative.

Receiving the Orb

After the ritual, you’ll receive a special orb from within the portal. This orb is crucial for the final step of the quest.

Completing the Quest: Restoring the Frosted Heights

Placing the Orb in the Pillar

Leave the secret chamber and head back to the Frosted Heights. Find the pillar that you investigated earlier and interact with it. Place the orb inside to complete the ritual and restore peace to the region.

Final Goodbye with Olaf

Return to the secret chamber one final time to speak with Olaf and officially conclude The Great Blizzard quest.
