Clan DunBroch’s Rules of The Hunt Quest Guide in Disney Dreamlight Valley
This comprehensive quest guide will walk you through every step of the Clan DunBroch Rules of The Hunt friendship quest with Merida in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Whether you’re new to the game or working through the expansion DLC, this guide covers all the objectives, crafting requirements, and puzzle solutions you’ll need to complete this quest successfully.
Starting the Quest with Merida
Begin by speaking with Merida to initiate the Clan DunBroch Rules of The Hunt quest. She explains that snippets have been annoying her, setting up the main objective of the quest.

Follow Merida as she leads you to examine the Moss logs in her area. She will provide you with a potion from the Library of Law, which you’ll need for the next step.

Collecting Moss with the Shovel Potion
Apply the shovel potion to your shovel to enable the removal of Moss logs. You’ll need to remove up to six of these logs and collect the moss that drops from them. This moss is a crafting ingredient (not a quest-specific item), so it may be useful for future crafting.

Make sure to pick up all the moss you collect, as you’ll need these resources for crafting later in the quest.

Returning to Merida and Crafting the Slow Trap
Head back to Merida in the library. She now asks you to craft a Basic Four Leaves Slow Trap, which will slow down the snippets in the Veil, making them easier to catch.

Gathering Ingredients for the Slow Trap
To craft the Basic Four Leaves Slow Trap, you’ll need the following ingredients:
1 Opal (found by mining rocks in the Bind)
1 Sorcerer Hat
1 Hermitcrab (fished from orange fishing pools in the Bind)
5 Pine Cones (found around Storybook Veil)
Storybook Magic

Finding Opals: Mine the rocks located in the Bind area to extract Opals.

Obtaining Hermitcrab: Fish specifically in orange fishing pools within the Bind. Based on testing, Hermitcrabs appear to only spawn in orange fishing pools.

Collecting Pine Cones: Gather five pine cones from around the Storybook Veil area. They’re scattered throughout the zone and easy to spot.

Getting Storybook Magic: Access your menu and navigate to Dream Light. You’ll find Storybook duties at the top, or you can complete tasks in the Storybook Veil (bottom section) to earn Storybook Magic, similar to how you’d earn regular Dream Light.

Crafting at the Crafting Table
Return to the main valley to craft the trap. We recommend setting up a crafting table in the Storybook Veil area itself. This will save you time from repeatedly traveling back to the main valley for future quests in this area.

At the crafting bench, select Basic Four Leaves Slow Trap from the functional items category and craft it using all your gathered ingredients.

Placing the Slow Trap
Once crafted, go to your inventory, navigate to Furniture > Requests, and select the Basic Four Leaves Slow Trap. Place it anywhere in the Bind area. The trap will slow all snippets in the entire zone.

You may also want to place your crafting table nearby for convenience during subsequent steps.

Catching Slowed Snippets
Return to Merida, and she’ll ask you to catch snippets that have been slowed by your trap. Equip your net and begin catching snippets in the Bind. You’ll notice the slowed snippets have a distinctive blue ring around them, making them easy to identify.

The slow trap affects snippets throughout the entire Bind zone, so you should find plenty of slowed targets. If you’ve been in the area for at least thirty minutes, there should be enough snippets available to complete this objective immediately.

You need to catch a total of ten slowed snippets to progress to the next objective.

Rearranging Tales at the Law Keepers Pages
Return to Merida once you’ve caught ten snippets. She directs you to visit the Law Keepers Pages in the main library and rearrange one of the tales. This puzzle costs 25 snippets per attempt.

Solving the Tale Puzzle
You can choose any tale to rearrange. The difficulty increases with each tale you complete. For this guide, we’ll complete the Aladdin tale as an example.

Strategy tip: Start by placing the corner pieces first, as they’re the most obvious and will click into place easily. You can right-click on pieces to rotate them to the correct orientation.

Place each piece in its correct location. The pieces will snap into place when positioned correctly. Once all pieces are arranged, the tale is complete.

If you need to reset, you can place pieces back into the book without penalty.

Placing the Storybook Frame in Your House
Return to Merida after completing the tale puzzle. She rewards you with a Storybook Frame and asks you to place it in your house.

Head to your home and enter the furniture menu (go to Imagery > Furniture > Requests). Select the Storybook Frame and place it anywhere inside your house.

Completing the Quest
Return to Merida one final time. Speaking with her after placing the Storybook Frame in your house will complete the Clan DunBroch Rules of The Hunt quest.

Summary
The Clan DunBroch Rules of The Hunt quest involves a series of interconnected objectives: gathering resources, crafting a slow trap, catching slowed snippets, solving a tile puzzle, and placing a decorative frame in your home. By following this guide, you’ll efficiently complete all steps and earn your reward.
