Quest Introduction and Pillar Investigation

When you unlock this quest, Merlin will ask you to follow him through the meadow and past Pasco’s house to investigate strange pillars that have appeared in the village. These pillars are crucial to the valley’s safety.

Merlin will explain that these pillars have protected Dreamlight Valley for as long as anyone can remember, keeping it safe from dark magic. However, they are now broken—each pillar is missing a vital piece known as an orb of virtue. These orbs are filled with powerful magic and represent the virtues upon which the old ruler built the valley.

The orbs have been either lost, forgotten, or stolen over time. Your task is to find them. The specific orb you’re hunting for in this quest is the orb of friendship, which is currently tangled in a Night-thorn creature. This curse has also affected the well in the meadow.

Building Friendships with Villagers

Before you can free the orb of friendship, you must prove that you have the power of friendship. To do this, you need to level friendship to level five with three different villagers.

Pick up the orb and place it into the pillar. Once you do this, the pillar will activate and the orb of friendship will be transferred into it, unlocking the pillar’s protective power.

Freeing the Well and Learning About Fast Travel

With the orb in place, head to the well in the village and talk to Merlin once more. He’ll explain that by freeing the curse on the well, you’ve also unlocked the ability to use wells for magical travel throughout Dreamlight Valley.

The well system serves as your fast travel network. You can now access the map and click on any well to teleport to different areas of the valley. This is an essential feature for navigating the game world efficiently.

Unlocking a New Biome

To complete the “Friendship Is Everything” quest, you need to unlock access to a new biome. The valley currently has dark magic preventing full exploration, which can be cleared by gathering dream light.

Head to one of the blocked areas and investigate. You’ll be able to unlock a new biome by spending 1,000 dream light. The quest guide demonstrates unlocking the beach as the first biome, but you’re free to choose whichever biome you prefer.

Once you’ve unlocked your chosen biome, you may notice mysterious figures or caves to investigate—these lead to other quests you can complete later.

After unlocking a new biome, return to Merlin to complete the “Friendship Is Everything” quest. Simply talk to him to finish the quest and receive your rewards.
