How To Heal Someone In Rimworld

How To Heal Someone In Rimworld

In Rimworld, keeping your colonists healthy is essential to survival. Whether your pawn has been shot, attacked, or injured in any way, knowing how to properly heal them can mean the difference between life and death. This guide will walk you through the step-by-step process of healing an injured colonist, from setting work priorities to having your doctor tend to their wounds.

Step 1: Undraft the Injured Colonist

The first thing you need to do is undraft your injured pawn. This allows them to move freely and respond to work tasks. In this example, Anna has been shot and needs immediate attention. Select the injured colonist and remove them from drafted status so they can move around the colony.

Step 2: Set Patient as Top Priority in Work

Navigate to the Work tab and prioritize “Patient” as the number one work task. This ensures that when a colonist is injured, resting and recovering becomes their highest priority. This automatic prioritization means your injured pawn will head straight to a bed without you having to manually direct them every time.

Step 3: Assign a Doctor

Next, check your Work assignments and identify which colonist has the Doctor role enabled. In this example, Mather is the designated doctor. You’ll want at least one colonist with medical duties assigned so they can tend to wounds when needed.

Step 4: Command Rest Until Healed

Click on your injured colonist (Anna in this case), then right-click on a bed and select “Rest until healed.” If you’ve already set Patient as priority number one, the injured pawn will do this automatically. However, manually issuing this command ensures they head to the bed immediately. The colonist will move to the bed and begin resting, which is the first step of the healing process.

Step 5: Prioritize Tending Wounds

Once your injured colonist is in a bed (or even on the floor if necessary), right-click on them with your doctor selected and choose “Prioritize tending.” This forces your doctor to come immediately and begin treating the wounds. Your doctor will work through each injury one by one, bandaging and treating them systematically.

Important Notes About Medical Supplies

While a doctor can tend wounds without a Med pack, having medical supplies available significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and faster healing. Always ensure your doctors have access to Med packs in your medical area. If your colonist is lying on the floor and cannot move, you can still use the same “Prioritize tending” method with your doctor—the process works the same way, though having them in a proper hospital bed is ideal for better outcomes.

Summary

Healing someone in Rimworld is straightforward once you understand the work system. The key steps are: undraft your injured pawn, set Patient as top work priority, assign a capable doctor, command rest until healed, and then prioritize tending wounds. Your doctor will automatically treat injuries one by one, and your colonist will recover with proper rest. This method works whether they’re in a bed or lying on the floor, though a proper medical setup will always yield better results.
