Getting Started: Talking to Mike Wazowski

Begin the quest by speaking with Mike Wazowski. He will set you on the path to finding key cards in the reception area of the Monsters Inc realm.

Fixing the Reception Door

When you attempt to enter the reception area, you’ll notice a sign indicating that the door is out of order. To proceed, you’ll need to locate a toolkit to repair it.

Finding the Toolkit

Head to the back of the bathroom on the top floor to locate the toolkit. You’ll find it near the TV in a storage area. This is the same area where you found fuses in previous quests.

Repairing the Door

Once you have the toolkit, return to the reception door and use it to fix the broken door. After the repair is complete, you’ll be able to enter the reception area.

Collecting Key Cards from Reception

Inside the reception area, you’ll find numerous notes scattered around. Focus on picking up the key cards from the front desk, as these are essential for progressing through the quest.

Once you’ve collected the key cards, return to Mike and give them to him. He’ll be pleased and ready to help you open the doors in the facility.

Investigating the Kids’ Rooms

With the key cards in hand, you now need to investigate multiple rooms to gather clues. The signs on the walls indicate which room you’re in. Your task is to search for information about what makes each kid laugh.

Room F2: The Red Door

Enter the red door marked F2 on the last floor. In this room, search for clues related to what makes the child laugh. You’ll find several drawings to investigate:

Room F3: Taking Photos of Clues

Room F3 contains a nice bedroom where you’ll need to take photographs of specific clues. Use your camera to capture images of the following items:

The lamp or poster (your first clue)

The little space ranger book on the floor

The stars on the ceiling

Room F4: Cleaning Up Socks

Room F4 is quite messy, with clothes scattered all over the floor. Your task is to remove all the socks from this room. Once you’ve cleaned up all the socks, you’ll find a whoopee cushion, which is the physical clue you need to bring to Mike.

Gathering Sodas from Vending Machines

After showing Mike the whoopee cushion, he’ll ask you to collect three cans of soda from the vending machines. Mike plans to use these for a burping joke. You’ll need to gather red, blue, and green sodas.

Red Soda

Open the first vending machine in the reception area to obtain the red soda.

Blue Soda

To activate the second snack machine and get the blue soda, flip the light switch on the wall. This will turn on the blue snack machine, allowing you to retrieve the blue soda.

Green Soda

The final green soda is inside a broken vending machine in the reception area. Equip your pickaxe and smash the machine to retrieve the green soda.

Bring all three sodas back to Mike to complete this section of the quest.

Welcoming Mike and Sully to the Valley

After giving Mike all three sodas, both Mike and Sully will agree to join the valley. You’ll now need to place their house in your valley.

Placing the Apartment

Exit the Monsters Inc realm and return to the main valley. You’ll receive Mike and Sully’s apartment as a furniture request in your inventory. Choose a suitable location for their house—consider placing it near other high-rise buildings like Shep’s house for aesthetic consistency.

Unlocking the House

Once you’ve placed the apartment, unlock it using the sign on the front of the house. This will finalize the placement.

Final Steps: Welcoming Both Characters

First, welcome Sully to the valley by speaking with him at his new home.

Return to the Monsters Inc realm and talk to Mike. He’ll ask you to take a selfie with him. Use your camera to capture this moment.

Show Mike the selfie you took, and you’ll now be able to officially welcome Mike Wazowski to the valley.

Speak with Mike one final time to complete the quest.
